Parking Meters

The Grand Strand's multiple communities impose various parking regulations. To make sure you don't have to make a trip to a tow lot, pay attention to the posted parking stipulations. Regardless of the area you are in, take care not to park in no-parking zones or on private property.
NOTE: Private property includes hotels and other businesses, unless you are a guest of the property.

The city of Myrtle Beach uses both parking meters and pay stations in areas east of U.S. 17 (Kings Highway) between 29th Avenue South and 31st Avenue North. All Myrtle Beach parking meters require U.S. coins. Pay stations accept coins, $1, $5 and $10 bills as well as credit cards. Rates vary between 75 cents to $1.25 per hour or $6 for all-day parking. Meters are in effect from March 15 through September 15 but hours of operation vary by location.

Surfside Beach has parking meters in many beachside locations near Ocean Blvd and Surfside Drive, including Surfside Pier, Yaupon Drive and some areas north and south of the pier. Meters are in effect April 15 until October 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Meters accept only U.S. coins, at the rate of 50 cents per hour up to two hours.

Any vehicle with valid handicapped tags, disabled veteran tags or Purple Heart tags may park free of charge in any metered space in South Carolina.
